Courage 2 Continue

It took me forever to think of a name for my blog, but it shouldn't have. The answer was staring me in the face. One of my favorite quotes is by Winston Churchill, he says, "Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts." That quote has had me hooked and kept me going for a long time. So it is now the name of my blog. And I wrote an explanation of the quote and what it means.

The pain. It often threatens to overwhelm us. But we tell ourselves we must push through. So brush things aside. Try to act like nothing tragic has happened. Try to hide the pain. While inside there is a constant struggle. A battle making us question whether or not to keep moving forward. And if it would be worth it to keep going. A man who understood this, and suffered through many struggles himself, was Winston Churchill. And overcoming and persevering taught him something that he summed up for us when he said, “Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.” That courage may not even feel like courage or anything great at the time you're struggling. It is often just putting one foot in front of the other, again and again. But just moving forward shows that we possess courage. And today, I want you to be able to focus on those last few words of Churchill's quote. The courage to continue. I want to motivate you to have that courage, that strength. And I want to show you how to have that courage and why it is necessary.

Being courageous often only means plodding ahead, step by step, day by day. Albert Einstein explains it when he said, “life is like riding a bike, you have to keep moving forward.” We are hit with struggles as well as opportunities every day, and we build courage by going forward through them all. Look at it as having a cup, and if you put water into it, when it gets dumped over water comes out. If we store up good things, when we face hard times or get upset, only good things will come out, that is how we can be ready for our challenges before they even happen, that is how we can learn to be courageous when life gets really hard. And eventually, we will be rewarded.

But on the whole, I think I have failed to build this courage in me. I lack the strength I know I need in times of trial.  I often don’t feel like I have it. There are certainly times when I want to quit. But pushing through those trials makes us strong. Sometimes we have to realize how dark the darkness is to appreciate how bright the light is. Because there is always a light. Always a hope. And the courage it takes to see that and strive for it is what counts.

So I named my blog The Courage 2 Continue, because that's what I want to give you. I have known that Churchill quote for a really long time and it has meaning to me. Hopefully, I can inspire you to realize the truth in his words and to have courage as you face your challenges in life.
